Abdela and Vasquez were both 15 when they shocked the city by viciously slashing to death year-old drinking buddy McMorrow near Strawberry Fields and then gutting and dumping his body in The Lake in the early-morning hours of May 23, At one point, Abdela claimed that Vasquez brutally attacked McMorrow in a fit of jealousy after McMorrow started kissing her and trying to undress her.
The Realtor was stabbed so severely that his head and hands were nearly severed, cops said. His heart also had been punctured six times. At the time of the crime, Abdela was described by pals as the spoiled daughter of wealthy parents — a sloppily dressed, rebellious, tough-talking misfit who drank heavily and had just been booted from the prestigious Jesuit academy Loyola for disciplinary problems.
Her family was unhappy after the trial that four confessions by Vasquez to a psychologist about his role in the crime were ruled inadmissible, and thus helped him avoid a more serious charge of murder. Since her release, Abdela has been spending her days with her father, Angelo. Her mom, Catherine, died about a year ago. In an encounter with Post columnist Andrea Peyser, Abdela snarled and spat out expletives when asked to speak.
Like Abdela, Vasquez is subject to a curfew and cannot leave the five boroughs. They took the easy way out. I was wrong for drinking underage, and I was wrong for the admitted actions I took. As much as I wish I could go back into the past, I am dealing with the circumstances as best as I can.
How old was daphne when her parents died? I ask because this type of action is usually proceede by other shows of violent pychopathy such as torched and killings of animals etc…. But, I have a dark sense of humor. Rip michael.
I find this case fascinating. I know Chris, and found out about this a good bit after meeting him we were growing close and some friends were concerned. Some very interesting things happened and I definitely pulled back. Still Facebook friends but definitely backed off.
