Where X Factor comes in is added pressure not to drop combos, panic, get overly excited because within 1 sec the whole match can go completely the other way. In other fighting games, there are built-in mechanics where the combos are forced to end at some point hard knock-down, stun, meter depletion, etc.
Not so with UMvC3. X Factor constantly provides that threat. It is not about rewarding your opponent, but rather punishing you. This then leads you to either up your game or fizzle out. Yes, X Factor can be used to extend combos, but keep in mind that the duration and effectiveness of it is limited by how many heroes still remain in your party. So, X Factor level 1 all 3 party members still alive isn't really going to be much of a threat to take out an entire enemy party.
Furthermore, X Factor can only be used once per match. The bigger problem with the game isn't so much the shenanigans you can do with X Factor. It's more the "infinites" that are problematic. Whether the ones in the above link still exist or others have been found since then, I don't know. Danime View Profile View Posts. I find it to be one of the worst comeback mechanics of all time tbh. Marvel 3 would have been so much better without it.
The hypest comebacks were the ones where the losing player didn't have x factor to carry them. No speed boost, small damage boost, but a huge increase in movement and combo options. Infinity dumber than X-Factor. In MVC2 players had to be creative and quick for that re-launch.
Worst of all? You have to sacrifice nothing for it, which annoys me. In the context of a match, I feel like it should be an option rather than a necessity, like it is now. Removing hard knockdowns would make characters like Chun-Li and Zero way way waaaay better and characters like Dante and Doom worse. So… Ive been thinking about if i had the chance to remove x-factor, would i do it? No, I wouldnt. To be honest I believe X-factor is BS, but why? Its because of the damage AND speed boost most characters get that makes it overwhelming… no one really complains about the life regeneration or about how you dont take any chip damage in X-factor.
So how do you fix the problem with x-factor? I have an idea that i think most people here that play casually AND competitively could agree on. Now what this means is each character on your team has to decide on which X-factor boost works best for them.
I have a so if you have one i do this. On normal mode press RT, A and X. It lasts longer the less people you have.
